sent out to that Government for consideration and recommendation to the Secretary of State.

I do not know whether any similar evacuation order was issued in Malaya. If one was and some officers ignored it, as they did in Hong Kong, then we shall have to be careful to keep the two places in line over this and a copy of the correspondence i.e. the letter, the reply and the despatch should go to the Malayan Union and Singapore for information and for comments if they have or are likely to have any similar applications.
